The American Red Cross exists to provide compassionate care to those in need. A network of volunteers helps to prevent and relieve suffering, in the USA and around the world, through five key service areas: Disaster Relief, Supporting America’s Military Families, Lifesaving Blood Donations, Health and Safety Services, International Services.
There are many easy, short, meaningful volunteering opportunities that do not require training, supervision, or a long-term commitment. Some of these include writing letters to victims of disasters; distributing information about the Red Cross, about health and safety, or about disaster preparedness; blogging or tweeting about the Red Cross. An extensive list of possibilities is available at the website.
To participate, choose the activities you like best, call your local Red Cross to register, and get instructions for your chosen activity.
Action applicable to residents of the USA.
