mySociety’s digital tools for Better Cities include FixMyStreet which allows for map-based reporting of issues in the local community to the people responsible for getting them fixed. FixMyStreet is primarily for reporting things which are broken or dirty or damaged or dumped, and need fixing, cleaning or clearing, like graffiti, dog fouling, potholes or street lights that don’t work. One application of FixMyStreet is reporting dog fouling in the UK for cleanup.
You don’t need to figure out which authority is responsible for resolving the issue. All you have to do is click on a map to identify the location, briefly describe the problem and send this information. Three clicks is all it takes! The FixMyStreet tool will provide the data to both the local council and post it online for public access.
You can access FixMyStreet via a browser or download an app to your mobile phone. You simply provide your name and email address when you submit a report so the local council can update you on the status of your issue. You can opt to submit your report anonymously if you prefer your information not be included on the public access site. You do not have to register, but you can create an account should you use the tool frequently. Help report problems in your community in the UK so they can be resolved!
