Currently for use in Egypt, HarassMap is a quick and concise way to anonymously register harassment. By either emailing a form, sending an SMS message or tweeting – using the hashtag #harassmap – participants can report what happened, where, and when. Reports can be made if the incident happen to you or if you are witness to it, easily allowing the occurrence of harassment to be properly known and therefore helping to prove sexual harassment actually happens.
Placing a dot on a map to indicate where harassment happens motivates neighbourhoods to stand up to negative behaviour, helping to build a society that guarantees the safety of all people from sexual and gender based violence. HarassMap also runs volunteer based safe-zone, safe-school and university, blog and research programs spreading the message of a harassment free world to a large audience.
