UK based OPAL air survey is looking for volunteers to discover the impacts of local air quality on the UK’s natural environment. The survey is studying lichens found on trees and is also looking for tar spot fungus on sycamore leaves. Apparently, both can tell them a great deal about local air quality.
To participate in this action, you’ll need to print out colour copies of their workbook and guides, both of which are available from this webpage. You’ll then be asked to record instances of lichen and tar spot fungus, the results of which should then be submitted via their website. This action can be participated from your back garden, or further afield.
