Discoverables is a radical new platform that helps young people identify, develop and showcase their key powers and soft skills to potential employers and investors across a range of industries. We were invited to suggest some actions that could contribute to the attainment of certain pre-assigned key ‘soft skills’ that employers look for in prospective recruits, where the target market was designated as youth
Barclays plc is a British multinational banking and financial services company headquartered in London, United Kingdom. We were invited to provide some interesting microvolunteering actions that would cover a 1 day volunteering event for their staff at their Slough branch, UK
City of London School for Girls
The City of London School for Girls is a non-denominational independent day school, for girls aged 7 to 18, aiming for excellence in the education and development of young women in the heart of the City of London. We were invited to provide some interesting microvolunteering actions for their students to participate in, that had an emphasis on UK based offline actions
Swindon Therapy Centre for Multiple Sclerosis
Swindon Therapy Centre for Multiple Sclerosis exists to improve the quality of life for people affected by multiple sclerosis and other neurological conditions, by providing a range of therapies in a well-equipped, positive and caring environment. We were invited by Swindon Therapy Centre to suggest some actions that would help them raise money for their cause. Although not asked for, we also provided actions that had to potential to enable them to save money!
Communities 2.0 is a digital inclusion project from the Welsh Government and the European Regional Development Fund. It’s goal is to break down the barriers to engagement with technology. The actions were provided as a ‘starter for ten’ to develop further exploratory discussions for microvolunteering actions being used in the various projects run by Communities 2.0
Oasis Academy Shirley Park
Oasis Academy Shirley Park is an educational environment that nurtures the whole student – academically, vocationally, socially, morally, spiritually, emotionally and environmentally. We were invited by Shirley Park to provide some interesting and unusual microvolunteering actions as part of their students activities.
It Starts With Us
The goal of ItStartsWith.Us is to build a global community of individuals focused on making a positive impact in the lives of the people around them via weekly emails of actions that can be completed in under 15 minutes. The actions were provided to compliment this service, whilst also demonstrating that a similar impact could be achieved with actions that were of a slightly different nature to the ones usually proposed.
Rayleigh, Rochford & District Lapttop Project
Lifelong Access to PCs Through Training for Older People (LAPTTOP) runs 9 week introductory courses in Rochford and Rayleigh for over 50’s who would like to learn basic computer skills. The actions provided in this list were designed to compliment the course and fit in with the aims of the Volunteer Centre running it.
African Mothers Foundation International
AMFI empowers African women in order for them to participate in local and international making decisions that affect their lives and enabling change in their lives. The actions were provided to enable users of this organisation to directly and indirectly make an impact in Africa via microvolunteering activities
Cardiff County Council
The initial impetus for this list came from an idea from Help From Home for Cardiff County Council to capitalise on the potential PR that might be gained from them becoming the first ‘Microvolunteer Capital of the World’.
