The National Map Corps consists of volunteers who provide cartographic information to the U.S. Geological Survey. This data is used to update The National Map. Volunteers navigate maps and aerial photography online, place a point on the map and enter the name and type of structure located there. Structures include schools, hospitals, post offices, police stations and other important public buildings.
To participate, sign up online and get started. All you need is access to the internet, an email address, and familiarity with the area being mapped.
Action applicable to residents of the USA, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
