Wombats are Australia’s largest burrow builders and are essential in maintaining soil health and modifying habitats, including building burrows that provide shelter for a range of other species. Unfortunately wombats are under threat, where their survival is being impacted by a parasitic mite (which causes sarcoptic mange), and human activities.
If you live in Australia, you can help collect information about the lives of wombats and so help conserve these important ecosystem engineers. Information from an observation of a wombat include whether it is dead or alive, it has the mange, it’s nearby to a wombat burrow, and it’s location on a map.
You don’t need to register with project, but you do need a valid email address to log your observations.
