YouDescribe is a free accessibility tool for adding audio description to YouTube videos, and is a project of The Smith-Kettlewell Video Description Research and Development Center.
People with visual disabilities who cannot see what is going on in a video can benefit from descriptions recorded by sighted describers. Descriptions can be contributed by anyone with the time, skill, and inclination, including parents, teachers, and friends of blind YouDescribe users.
For microvolunteers wishing to describe videos, the instructions are pretty easy to follow, that includes pause, stop, replay facilities, as well as an editing suite in case you weren’t happy with your description attempt.
Help a blind person today by using your sight and description skills to add a whole new dimension to videos that would otherwise not be as accessible to visually impaired viewers.
